Miscarriage and superstitious beliefs

Question:

Assalam O Alaiqum, if a woman has miscarriage can she meet another pregnant girl before or after 40 days (nafaas). Some superstitious women in Pakistan believe that in such a case the pregnant women should not meet nor hug the women that has had a miscarriage, otherwise some bad luck will befall the pregnant women and she may have miscarriage. Please guide in the light of Sunnah.

Answer:

Wa alaykum salam.

There is no basis for such superstitious beliefs in Islam.
Belief in superstition is completely forbidden in Islam.
There is a hadith of Abu Hurairah which was transmitted by al-Bukhari and Muslim from the way of Az-Zuhri on the authority of ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Utbah ibn ‘Abdul Barr that the Prophet (peace be upon him said, “There is no tiyarah (superstitious belief in bad omens).
