As-salamu aláikum brother, i have a question that I haven’t been able to find answers to online, I hope you can help me.

Regarding on the zakat for the jewelry, I’ve been told that I don’t need to pay zakat for diamonds, so if I have a ring of gold with diamonds, what should I do?, the other question is, if I have a jewel that the comercial price is much higher because of the brand itself no because it’s weight in gold should I calculate the zakat with the price that cost me or it’s weight in gold, taking in consideration that is a big difference, I hope you can help me. Thank you

وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته

جزاكم الله خيرا for your queries.

1. In regards to the first question, the value of the gold of the ring should be valued and Zakāh paid according to the value of the gold.

2. There is no Zakah on jewels for personal use, irrespective of its value or cause of value. If it for commercial use or trade purposes, then it will be zakatable as stock in trade.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
